Japanese fashion is rising in popularity and is a global leader in design. The latest fashions include thigh high boots, trendy jackets and coats, and airy frocks. Biug names like Galaxxy, Function Junction, Evisa Janes, and A Bathing Ape have been making waves in the international fashion industry, causing them to excel even beyond top Paris lines. Much of the global fashions come from Tokyo where grand fashion ideas and trends are generated. These designs are often reworked and then sold under a Western label. Much of the fashions seen today may not even come from a Japanese name, but they are inspired by the styles of Japan and make a lasting footprint in the fashion industry.
Much inspiration in Japanese fashion comes from the neighborhood of Hairajuku. It is here that fashion trends are inspired from actual people walking on the streets and are later reworked and designed to reflect high fashion. Designers take notes from the shoppers and those hustling and bustling on the streets and use information from interviews with them to decide which way to take the newest fashions.
There is a twice-yearly Tokyo line that has been named as Japan fashion Week. This is a branch off from New York’s famous fashion week and allows Japanese designers the ability to be showcased on the runway. It is through shows like this that Japanese fashion begins to spread and gain greater popularity and recognition in the global fashion industry, giving it an edge that puts it above the rest.
